Not a great start to the year for Breaking Vegas. It has been a strange start to the NFL season. Check out the list of 2-0 teams through two weeks…
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Kansas City Chiefs
- LA Rams
- Miami Dolphins
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The quarterbacks of those teams are Andy Dalton, Blake Bortles, Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, Ryan Tannehill, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. BIZARRE!
Moving into week three, I really need a good week. I am confident about these picks. Many tight spreads this week, looks like a great slate of games on Sunday.
Green Bay Packers -2.5 @ Washington Redskins
This line is this close because of the questions surrounding Aaron Rodgers health. There are serious questions about his knee injury and how mobile he will be this week and throughout the rest of the season. The thing is, Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league. Most other teams would give a lot of money to have Rodgers at 80% under center for their team. In the end, the Packers are the better offensive team.
Packers 28 – Redskins 24
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (EVEN)
Ryan Fitz-Magic has been a huge story this season in Tampa. He leads the league in passing yards (819), second in passing touchdowns (8), and first among quarterback in passer rating (151.5). Just for a frame of reference, the highest a passer rating can be is 158.3.
That all comes to an end this week. The Steelers have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Their running back still isn’t with the team, their star receiver missed Monday meetings, and Ben Roethlisberger has been terrible on the road for years. But … they need to right the ship. If they don’t win this game there are people that are likely to lose their jobs. Time to get right with a win on the road.
Steelers 35 – Buccaneers 27
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons -2.5
This is one of the most fun divisions in football and is going to be a battle until the end of the year to decide their playoff position.
The over/under on this game is 53.5. There are going to be many points scored in Atlanta.
There are many Pro Bowl caliber offensive weapons in this game. Matt Ryan. Drew Brees. Julio Jones. Michael Thomas. Alvin Kamara.
Buckle up. This is my favorite game of the week.
Falcons 31 – Saints 21
Cincinnati Bengals @ Carolina Panther -2.5
Cincinnati had 10 days to prepare for Carolina. I am a believer that those 10 days are great for teams with great coaches. I am not a believer in Marvin Lewis.
The Panthers’ defense is going to be put to the test against a team that has scored 34 points in each of their first two games. I believe that the Panthers’ defense is going to be the story of the game and is going to help bolster Cam Newton and the offense.
Panthers 25 – Bengals 21
Upset Special of the Week:
Dallas Cowboys +1 @ Seattle Seahawks
I have never shied away from the fact that I am a lifelong Cowboys fan. Because of that fact I have a terrible record betting the Cowboys. This week I feel far too confident in this pick.
The Cowboys have given up only 29 points so far this season, good enough for 3rd best in the league. On the flip side, the Cowboys have only scored 28 points, 29th in the league. Have the Cowboys really become a defensive team?
This game will likely be won by whichever offense is less anemic. I think that the Cowboys will find a way to get out of their offensive slump and beat the Seahawks at Century Link.
Cowboys 22 – Seahawks 14
