The 2021-22 season has been the longest in the history of the NFL and it has been one of the most interesting.
We have seen both the number 1 and 2 Draft picks crumble under the pressure. We have seen newer quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Justin Herbet really make their mark on the league. Dak came back. And of course, we saw the total transformation of Matthew Stafford with the Rams.
Today, we are rating the 2021-22 quarterbacks – based purely on their performance in the regular season.
Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford are about to faceoff in the Super Bowl and we can’t decide who we want to win. Both men have had an incredible season. If you think you know who will be triumphant check out these NFL Super Bowl prop bets.
Let’s not waste any more time – here is your quarterback class of 2011-22
#32 – Zach Wilson
New York Jets
Rookie
2nd Draft Pick Overall
4th AFC EAST
We all had higher hopes for this year’s second pick in the Draft.
#31 – Trevor Lawrence
Jacksonville Jaguars
Rookie
1st Draft Pick Overall
4th AFC SOUTH
Many thought that Lawrence would be a runaway Rookie of the Year winner at the start of the season.
#30 – Sam Darnold
Carolina Panthers
4th Year
4TH NFC SOUTH
The Panthers have had yet another poor year – not all of this was Darnold’s fault.
#29 – Davis Mills
Houston Texans
Rookie
67th Draft Pick Overall
3rd AFC SOUTH
Mills had a bitter season than a lot of players who were picked ahead of his this year.
#28 – Taylor Heinicke
Washington Football Team
6th Year
3rd NFC WEST
If Heinicke could keep his cool when his team is trailing, he could be something really special.
#27 – Justin Fields
Chicago Bears
Rookie
11th Draft Pick Overall
3rd NFC NORTH
Fields had to take 5 weeks out this year, maybe more game time would have allowed him to have a better rookie season.
#26 – Daniel Jones
New York Giants
3rd Year
4th NFC NORTH
This season was nothing special from Jones. His neck injury puts his 2022-23 season in danger.
#25 – Baker Mayfield
Cleveland Browns
4th Year
3rd AFC NORTH
The AFC North was possibly the most competitive division this season and Mayfield failed to do anything special in it.
#24 – Ben Roethlisberger
Pittsburgh Steelers
18th Year
RETIRED
2ND AFC NORTH
We are sad to see Ben Roethlisberger go this season. It was one of the hardest he’s ever had to play. How will the Steelers cope without him?
#23 – Jared Goff
Detroit Lions
6th Year
1 Year Starting
4th AFC NORTH
Goff went for 13 games without a win and then had an incredible end to the season, who could have guessed it?
#22 – Jameis Winston
New Orleans Saints
7th Year
2nd NFC SOUTH
Winston wasn’t the only QB to start for the Saints this season, but he was by far the best.
#21 – Tua Tagovailoa
Miami Dolphins
2nd Year
3rd AFC EAST
Tagovailoa has a skill set like Drew Brees that could be put to much better use in another team.
#20 – Carson Wentz
Indianapolis Colts
6th Year
2nd AFC SOUTH
Wentz’s season was the definition of average.
#19 – Jimmy Garoppolo
San Francisco 49ers
8th Year
3rd NFC WEST
Garoppolo and co didn’t necessarily earn their spot in the playoffs, but they made great use of it.
#18 – Teddy Bridgewater
Denver Broncos
8th Year
4th AFC EAST
Bridgewater had a pretty good season, however, the players around him did not.
#17 – Matt Ryan
Atlanta Falcons
14th Year
3rd NFC SOUTH
Falcon is part of the old guard, but he puts his years of experience to great use. Hopefully, we will see more from the Falcons next season.
#16 – Mac Jones
New England Patriots
Rookie
15th Draft Pick Overall
2nd AFC EAST
Jones was by far the best rookie quarterback this season.
#15 – Jalen Hurts
Philadelphia Eagles
2nd Year
2nd NFC EAST
Hurts led the quarterbacks with 786 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
#14 – Kirk Cousins
Minnesota Vikings
10th Year
2nd NFC NORTH
When he’s good, he’s spectacular – but Cousins’ worst enemy is his lack of consistency.
#13 – Lamar Jackson
Baltimore Ravens
4th Year
4th AFC NORTH
There is no shame this year in coming last in this division. Jackson has had an impressive season, before missing the last 4 games because of injury.
#12 – Ryan Tannehill
Tennessee Titans
10th Year
AFC SOUTH CHAMPIONS
The fact that Tannehill won his division and ended up 12 on this list, shows you the talent in the NFL right now.
#11 – Russell Wilson
Seattle Seahawks
10th Year
4th NFC WEST
Wilson might have been top of this list if we were judging based on the final two weeks of the season – sadly his first 4 games were lacking.
#10 – Dak Prescott
Dallas Cowboys
6th Year
NFC EAST CHAMPIONS
Dak is back and boy, he didn’t disappoint.
#9 – Derek Carr
Las Vegas Raiders
8th Year
2nd AFC EAST
We didn’t hear much about Carr this year, but he was reliably top-notch all year.
#8 – Kyler Murray
Arizona Cardinals
3rd Year
2nd NFC WEST
Murray gave us a flawless 1st half of the season and 75% in the second half.
#7 – Matthew Stafford
Los Angeles Rams
13th Year
1st Season with the Rams
NFC WEST CHAMPIONS
We could write a book on Stafford this year – all we will say today is that he has left the world of sport speechless this season.
#6 – Josh Allen
Buffalo Bills
4th Year
AFC EAST CHAMPIONS
Another really great year from Allen.
#5 – Patrick Mahomes
Kansas City Chiefs
5th Year
AFC WEST CHAMPIONS
You’re as shocked as we are that we won’t be seeing Mahomes in the Super Bowl again this year.
#4 – Justin Herbert
Los Angeles Chargers
2nd Year
3rd AFC WEST
Herbert improved on last year’s performance, which we didn’t think was possible.
#3 – Joe Burrow
Cincinnati Bengals
2nd Year
AFC NORTH CHAMPIONS
Burrows was sensational this year – in the regular season, in the playoffs, and hopefully in the Super Bowl too.
#2 – Aaron Rodgers
Green Bay Packers
17th Year
NFC NORTH CHAMPIONS
This was a year marred by controversy for Rodgers. But he still played some incredible football.
Will he be number 1 next year now that Brady has retired?
#1 Tom Brady
Tampa Bay Buccaneer
22nd Year
RETIRED
NFC SOUTH CHAMPIONS
A 22nd strong season in a row from the G.O.A.T. We are incredibly sad to hear he is hanging up his boots.
We have based this list on the quarterbacks’ performances in the regular season. There are a few players like Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford who have put in incredible postseason performances but that doesn’t change this list.
