Best Comedy Movies Of The Past Decade You Have To Watch

Ten years. Hundreds of movies. Tons of fun. The most complicated genre, the most difficult, the one that represents a real challenge for the creator, is comedy. Make laugh is not easy, but for the past decade, although not everyone agrees on that, we have enjoyed many comedies that you can watch free online now.

Between 2010 and 2019 there have been many films designed with a single intention: to provoke laughter in the viewer at any price. From cynicism, irony, bad taste or immaculate good taste, but with the same purpose, make laugh.

MacGruber (2010)

We started the decade of the 10s with a comic hurricane and arguably the funniest movie to come out of a Saturday Night Live character. There will be a troll who will tell you otherwise, but pay no attention to it. Macgruber came out of nowhere (he recognizes himself ‘in shit’ whenever he has the chance), from a series of incredible micro sketches of just a couple of minutes that worked at all levels.

Deadpool (2016)

Combine the R-rated comedy that was so popular in the 2000s with the most successful genre of the 2010s, superhero movies, and Deadpool emerged, one of the highest-grossing R-rated movies of all time.

Easy A (2010)

Filmmaker Will Gluck has made a career of creating surprisingly good and cool movies that look terrible, as is the case with Easy A. The film featured a teen-focused version of The Scarlet Letter.

Surely a big part of why it works so well is Emma Stone. While the now Oscar-winning actress had major roles in Superbad and Zombieland, this is the movie in which she had a chance to shine.

Inherent Vice (2014)

A silly detective story, definitely without a hint of seriousness, in which the mystery finally doesn’t matter, and the series of misadventures that follow Larry ‘Doc’ Sportello are really what it’s all about.

Joaquin Phoenix offers a hilariously committed performance that shows off excellent physical comedy and a willingness to get really weird. It is a movie that works much better when you stop trying to figure it all out, sit back and enjoy the show.

Game Night (2018)

It seemed like Game Night, a David Fincher-inspired film comedy laden with mystery about a group of friends whose game night goes terribly wrong, could be the movie that will finally make studio comedy fashionable, as it was filled with excitement and Visually beautiful pieces, but unfortunately the box office was somewhat disappointing.

Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams are charming as a game-loving couple who work through relationship issues as they search for Bateman’s brother, but the entire cast together has a chance to shine in this witty comedy.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor: Ragnarok, the funniest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a movie that constantly bets on prank and scores. The film essentially rebooted the main character, as director Taika Waititi brings Chris Hemsworth’s charm to the forefront at last. This is a high-concept comedy that refuses to take itself too seriously while generating real emotional bets, a tightrope walk that many have tried and failed in the past.

Frances Ha (2012)

Frances Ha marked a turning point for filmmaker Noah Baumbach. His previous films like The Squid and the Whale and Greenberg were marked by a cynicism and anger that made them a bit irritating, but starting with Frances Ha, Baumbach gets a lot of relief, and his films are much better for that. It was co-written and starred by Greta Gerwig, whom we now know as the great film talent behind Lady Bird. Frances Ha is designed with an enthusiasm for life, which seeps through the screen.

Hail, Caesar! (2016)

The Coen brothers are known for their brilliant and idiosyncratic comedies, and their willingness to go in the completely opposite direction that the public expects is part of what makes them so fascinating. After winning the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director, they made the spy farce Burn After Reading, and after creating their dramatic and extremely sad Inside Llewyn Davis, they then skewered Hollywood in the supremely dumb Hail, Caesar!

This is a movie where nothing and everything matters at the same time. It’s a movie that stops by to feature a song and dance number from the movie stars with Channing Tatum, and a movie that leaves out the big movie star George Clooney in a room with a group of communists for almost everything. Run time. The Coen brothers have a wicked sense of humor, and hail Caesar! Put that in full screen with a hilarious and amazing effect.

The LEGO Movie (2014)

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have made a career of turning terrible ideas into great movies, and that’s the case with The LEGO Movie. What might have been a feature film advertisement for a toy is instead a story about creativity and how the narrative of the ‘chosen one’ is complete and absolute.
