By 2023, at least 300 million electric bikes will have been sold across the globe, new report shows. The report also indicates that a large number of electric vehicles (EVs) is expected to be released next year 2021, by companies such as Mazda, Ford Mercedes, and others. Therefore, it is no longer a question of whether the electronic industry is the future or not.
The report predicts that by 2025, at least 40 million e-bikes will be sold, including those used for ride-sharing and personal transportation. The bikes are not expected to portray a futuristic design.
They will look like the traditional ones and come along with pedals. The rider will have the choice to use an electric motor with lithium-ion battery technology.
Could Cycling Be The New Driving?
Cycle-share programs, expansion of bike lane networks, and bike commuting are some of the biggest traffic agendas today. As the attitude towards cycling around the world changes, so are bikes.
A report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance predicts that by 2025, at least 10 million electric vehicles will be sold. A different report from the International Energy Agency shows that by 2030, about 125 million EVs will have been sold.
With the EVs already selling at $45,000 and e-bikes at $1,500, an influx of the latter cannot be debated. Note that the change of the battery from the heavy lead-acid batteries to the lighter lithium-ion batteries will make a whole difference.
The lithium-ion battery technology will increase the e-bike’s efficiency and potentially trigger a fairer deal for the consumer. The Bloomberg report shows that between 2010 and 2019, battery prices saw a drop in terms of cost by up to 87 percent. This forecasts a 50 percent drop in the price of the electric lithium-ion powered bikes by 2023.
The other reason for the prediction of the increase in bike sales is the high demand as more people relocate to the urban areas. While they may look like the regular two-wheelers, these are loaded with an electric motor necessary for propulsion.
Understand that the motors and the batteries have become more integrated, unlike the earlier clunky-looking ones. The range of new components has also played a large part in reducing breakages.
How Will These Bikes Be Used For Exercise?
Electric bike dealer of Holmes County says that some e-bikes have pedaling, while others come with engines where the throttle can be thumbed. With the bike doing most of the work, you might wonder if you really need it to keep fit. The trick to making your e-bike an exercise tool is to take advantage of the motor.
You could keep cycling until you get to a steep hill. Once you get there, you could rev the engine to get an extra oomph. E-bikes burn calories while preventing a full-blown workout. It means you could still cycle to work and comfortably get into your office for your duties.
Why You Should Consider E-Bikes
There are many benefits linked to e-bikes. Here is a rundown of some of the reasons you should own one today.
Core Strengthening
E-bikes are great at aiding riders up steep inclines. The rider is also able to cover the ground quickly. As you steer and pedal, your output can quickly be translated into a workout. This is especially very good for your core, which braces with each turn.
Note that e-bikes are much heavier than regular bikes with about 80 pounds. But because they have a battery-powered pedal assist, which will soon be replaced by lithium-ion, you can expect a boost when pedaling. The pedal assist reduces thigh and knee impact, meaning that anyone, including people with health issues, can ride flawlessly.
Physical Utility
E-bikes have a more versatile and stable platform that allows for utility modifications. It means courier services and food delivery, among others, can be accomplished using accessories and attachments to the frame of the bike. Unlike e-scooters, e-bikes can also bear a more massive load.
The bikes come with a sturdy platform and frame, both of which are expected to advance in the future. They also accommodate passengers.
Efficiency
If you live in a city, you could take advantage of the traffic-free multi-purpose paths to reduce the time taken to commute. As city councils encourage people to give up their cars due to the high pollution emitted per kilometer, e-bikes are becoming more popular.
They emit lower pollution and use an average energy rate of about 100-150 watts. They have been developed over the years, and have become more efficient. Because they come with a lithe form and are durable, they are worth every penny.
We are indeed living in the future where with technology, almost everything is achievable. Today, the marketability of bikes is quickly increasing, which has prompted companies to produce a wide variety of e-bikes. With this marketability, more e-bikes have finally made their way to the road and the trail. If you were to choose just one mode of transport, would you choose an e-bike or an electric vehicle?
